Détournement

Edit lead

The web is a particularly normative space. And yet, we see an increasing emergence of practices that divert its constraints, forms and functions, as well as its associated connotations. The fact that these diversions are usually playful, even parodic, and performed by artists, writers or simple web surfers, demonstrates a desire to be free from the constraints of the web. The political dimension of this emancipatory desire is essential to our understanding of the key concept of subversion.
